All I have is that he was a labourer before enlisting. And Keogh gives him as James Carr from Belfast. However he is fingered by Private F Byrne of 2nd South Lancs in a POW interview states he is a South Lancs man and joined the Irish Brigade.
There is a clue in the death of P Sweeney after the war, who was reported to have been "stabbed by Private Carr of the South Lancashire Regiment" on 21 Feb 1919 at Tutzing near Munich. This is the only MIC that fits, and in addition his Christian name is James, as noted by Keogh.

1901 census - the only family that fits is the above. I cannot prove that this is, or is not, his family. They are living in Dunmore St, Falls Rd area of Belfast.

1911 census has thew same family living in Dunmore St in Falls Rd area of Belfast
His service number ponts to enlistment about ?
I have looked at all Service Records and Pensions records that exist for a James Carr, and there no POWs there.
Nothing obvious in 1911 Census under Overseas Military
