Correct man from Roll, aged 27 so born circa 1888. Sweeney J was a gardener before enlisting on Casement's records. Keogh has him from Clonmel and a buglar and piper.

1901 census has a John Sweeney living at Roaring Spring Road, Clonmel. No proof that this is him, but the address he gives in 1915 of Irishtown, Clonmel, is close on this.

1915 Oct 25. In answer to a question, gave his Ireland address as Irishtown, Clonmel

1919 Aug 8. No further action by army, they accepted that he had no intention of being disloyal, and his discharge would not be" for misconduct"

1936 Feb 2. Letter in Independent from John Sweeney of 76 Garrymore, Clonmel. He is appealing for a pension, and asks why Irish Brigade men have been excluded from Military Pensions Bill
